AI Safety and Research Company Anthropic Appoints Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Digital Natives, Startups, and Growth in India

AI safety and research firm Anthropic has named Sangeeta Bavi as the Head of Digital Natives, Startups, and Growth for India. In her new position, Bavi will spearhead the efforts to enhance the adoption of Claude among Indian startups and mid-market enterprises.

According to her post on LinkedIn, Bavi mentioned her long-established connections within the founder community. She expressed that founders have always held significant importance for her. Their ambition, resilience, and belief in their ability to make a difference have provided her with invaluable insights beyond traditional learning. This sentiment makes her role at Anthropic as Head of Digital Natives, Startups and Growth in India exceptionally meaningful.

Previous Experience and Contributions

Before joining Anthropic, Bavi was the Chief Operating Officer at YourStory Media, where she was instrumental in driving operational transformations and diversifying revenue sources. Additionally, she previously held the position of Director of Startup Business at Microsoft, where she established the startup initiative in India from the ground up.

Anthropic’s Expansion in India

Anthropic has been significantly expanding its operations in India. Currently, India ranks as the company’s second-largest market for Claude, contributing approximately 7.2% of global usage. The developer of Claude plans to establish its first office in Bengaluru, which will act as the main hub for forming local teams and enhancing enterprise adoption.

Leadership Changes at Anthropic

In January, Anthropic appointed Irina Ghose, the former Managing Director of Microsoft India, to oversee its operations in India in anticipation of the Bengaluru office’s opening. In April, Amlan Mohanty, who previously led policy initiatives at Google, was appointed as the Head of India Policy and External Affairs.
