The One and Only Campaign by Pernod Ricard India

In today’s fragmented media landscape, capturing attention ranks among the top challenges in advertising. Viewers are accustomed to frequent commercial breaks, making it increasingly difficult for brands to leave a lasting impact. In response, Pernod Ricard India has teamed up with ABP Network’s ABP News and ABP Majha to expand the storytelling of Blenders Pride Packaged Drinking Water’s latest campaign, The One and Only, beyond conventional television advertising and into live news content.

Transforming News into an Extension of the Campaign

The initiative introduces ‘The One and Only’ positive news segment as its cornerstone. During prime-time broadcasts, live anchors from ABP News and ABP Majha explicitly announce the segment before showcasing inspiring positive news stories that highlight exceptional individuals and moments. This editorial framing directly aligns with the theme of the brand’s newest TV commercial, which honours those who embody the essence of ‘The One and Only’.

Visual Transitioning to Enhance Brand Connection

To strengthen this connection, the broadcast transitions to a premium monochromatic aesthetic during the final 10 seconds before each commercial break. This design choice is not merely an artistic touch but rather extends the visual identity set forth in the brand film, facilitating a smooth transition into the ensuing TV commercial.

The commercial break then features the new monochromatic brand film for Blenders Pride Packaged Drinking Water, enhancing continuity between the live news segment and the campaign’s key message.

Integrating Editorial Context with Brand Philosophy

The campaign’s power lies not only in its visual shift but also in its connection to the brand’s core philosophy. By having live news anchors introduce ‘The One and Only’ positive news segment, the collaboration builds a natural bridge between journalism and advertising, seamlessly blending the campaign’s message with editorial content before guiding viewers into the TV commercial.

For marketers, this innovation showcases how a television campaign can extend beyond its conventional runtime. The upscale monochrome design reinforces the campaign’s visual language, while anchor-led storytelling adds context to the transition, embedding the brand proposition within the editorial realm.

Highlighting Uplifting Stories

The focus on uplifting news further enriches the narrative, ensuring the campaign celebrates individuals and accomplishments that exemplify being ‘The One and Only’, rather than merely using visual interruptions to draw attention.

Fifteen Days of Prime-Time Integration

The initiative ran for 15 days on both ABP News and ABP Majha. Throughout the campaign, viewers engaged with 60 positive news stories, each presented as part of ‘The One and Only’ segment. In total, the campaign delivered 6,300 seconds of live television innovation during leading prime-time news shows.

According to campaign data, it reached an audience of 4 million viewers on Connected TV (CTV) alone. By linking the anchor-led ‘The One and Only’ positive news segment to the television commercial, the campaign endeavoured to create a cohesive viewing experience where the programme, transition, and advertisement all reinforced the same brand concept.

Extending Beyond Traditional Commercial Breaks

Television continues to provide unmatched scale; however, memorable campaigns increasingly require extending storytelling beyond the confines of traditional advertising. The partnership between Pernod Ricard India and ABP Network exemplifies one effective method for accomplishing this, permitting the campaign’s core message to unfold within live programming before culminating in the television commercial.

For Blenders Pride Packaged Drinking Water, this integration enhances the ‘The One and Only’ platform through both editorial context and visual identity. The live news segment articulates the campaign’s philosophy, while the monochromatic approach invites viewers into the brand film, ensuring the television advertisement remains the experience’s focal point.

By combining the anchor-led introduction of ‘The One and Only’ positive news segment, contextual editorial integration, and a visual language that aligns with the campaign’s identity, this initiative offers a fresh perspective on high-quality television advertising—where live programming acts as a significant extension of the brand narrative rather than merely a passage to it.
