InstaHelp: Urban Company’s Innovative Home Services Platform

InstaHelp, the quick home services platform by Urban Company, experienced an adjusted EBITDA loss of Rs 346 per order in Q1 FY27. This shows improvement compared to a loss of Rs 447 per order in Q4 FY26, even though the overall losses expanded during the quarter.

Financial Overview of InstaHelp

The adjusted EBITDA loss for InstaHelp reached Rs 132 crore in Q1 FY27, a slight increase from Rs 119 crore in the prior quarter. The platform successfully completed 3.82 million orders during this period, marking a 43% rise from 2.67 million orders in Q4 FY26. Revenue also rose to Rs 11.22 crore in Q1 FY27, up from Rs 9 crore in the previous quarter.

Growth in Net Transaction Value

InstaHelp’s net transaction value (NTV) surged by 32% quarter on quarter, increasing to Rs 52.9 crore from Rs 40.1 crore. Since its launch in March 2025, NTV has shown steady growth, rising from Rs 27.6 crore in Q3 FY26 to Rs 40.1 crore in Q4 FY26 and now Rs 52.9 crore in Q1 FY27. Fulfilled orders have similarly escalated from 1.6 million in Q3 FY26 to 2.67 million in Q4 FY26, and finally to 3.82 million in Q1 FY27.

Impact of Competitive Pricing

Despite these positive trends, the average order value fell to Rs 138 in Q1 FY27, down from Rs 150 in the preceding quarter, influenced by intense competition within the segment. As a result, InstaHelp’s revenue per order also saw a decline, dropping to approximately Rs 29.4 from Rs 33.3 in the previous quarter. However, even with the increase in the overall loss, the loss per order decreased by almost 23% quarter on quarter to Rs 346 from Rs 447.

Future Outlook for InstaHelp

Urban Company indicated that the reduction in loss per order was attributable to enhanced network density as order volumes increased. In Q3 FY26, the platform’s adjusted EBITDA loss per order was Rs 381. Urban Company stated in its shareholder letter that in this developing market phase, they are focusing on achieving market leadership above all else.

The company anticipates that margins may remain under pressure for the time being due to ongoing aggressive discounting in the market. Urban Company highlighted that the current pricing levels are not sustainable for the industry, and a normalisation of pricing could lead to a one-time adjustment in demand across the sector.

Rising Competition in the Segment

Competition within the quick home services arena has intensified. Reports from Moneycontrol show that Snabbit recorded 1.51 million orders in June, whereas InstaHelp reached around 1.5 million orders in the same month. In comparison, Pronto managed to fulfil close to 0.95 million orders during that period.
