Ayati Devices: Transforming Diabetic Foot Care Through Innovative Technology

Bengaluru-based startup Ayati Devices has successfully raised Rs 15 crore ($1.5 million) in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Inflexor Ventures. These funds are intended to boost commercialisation efforts, expand the company’s footprint in both domestic and international markets, enhance manufacturing capabilities, and increase investments in research and artificial intelligence.

Founded in 2019 by Nishant Kathpal, Ayati Devices is dedicated to advancing diagnostic technologies targeted at diabetic foot complications and peripheral vascular disease. The startup was nurtured at IIT Bombay’s Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) and has developed a range of portable, point-of-care diagnostic devices designed to facilitate early screening outside of tertiary hospitals.

The product range addresses various stages of diabetic foot evaluation. Vibrasense measures vibration perception threshold to identify large-fibre peripheral neuropathy, while Vibrasense+T incorporates warm and cold perception testing. Vasosense is focused on peripheral artery disease screening, and Angiocam provides real-time tissue perfusion imaging. Additionally, the company offers the PODIA Trolley, a pay-per-test screening model aimed at lowering initial investments for healthcare providers. Ayati’s platform integrates assessments related to neuropathy, blood circulation, microcirculation, and plantar pressure.

Ayati Devices claims to have established a presence in 30 countries, with over 10,000 devices in operation and clinical partnerships within leading healthcare institutions. The company’s website highlights that its solutions have facilitated more than 1 million screenings, collaborating with partners across India and other international markets.

The flagship product, Vibrasense, has undergone rigorous clinical evaluation. A study involving 562 individuals with type 2 diabetes assessed the effectiveness of Vibrasense-based vibration perception threshold testing in comparison to traditional biothesiometry and nerve conduction studies for the screening of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
