Y Combinator Exits Meesho with Major Share Sale

Y Combinator, a global startup accelerator, has made a significant exit from Meesho by selling shares valued at around Rs 970 crore through a block deal on the stock exchanges. This marks a notable exit for an early investor in the ecommerce platform.

Details of the Sale

According to information available on the NSE, Y Combinator sold approximately 4.84 crore shares, resulting in a transaction worth Rs 969.63 crore. This sale follows recent actions by other early investors, such as Peak XV Partners and Elevation Capital, who collectively sold Rs 1,949 crore worth of shares in Meesho.

Trend of Exits by Early Investors

The recent transaction forms part of a wider trend where early investors in Meesho are starting to monetise their investments post the company’s public listing. Meesho made its debut on stock exchanges in December 2025 after its IPO.

Pre-sale Expectations

Prior to executing the transaction, Y Combinator’s intentions were to divest up to a 1.05% stake in Meesho for about Rs 957.5 crore, with the intended sale price standing at Rs 197.5 per share. However, the final transaction carried a valuation of Rs 969.63 crore on the NSE.

Other Major Transactions

Earlier this month, Peak XV Partners and Elevation Capital divested around 10.48 crore shares of Meesho in a block deal, totaling nearly Rs 1,949 crore. Each of these investors sold around 5.24 crore shares at Rs 186 per share.

Meesho’s Marketplace Focus

Founded by Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal, Meesho operates an ecommerce marketplace primarily targeting value-oriented consumers and sellers across India. These latest exits reflect the ample liquidity available to early investors following Meesho’s public listing.

Impact of Exits on Stock Value

While these sales enable investors to realise profits, ongoing selling activities by large shareholders might exert downward pressure on the stock value.

Company Performance

In the previous quarter (Q1 FY27), Meesho reported a 48% increase in operating revenue year-on-year, reaching Rs 3,713 crore. Additionally, its net loss saw a reduction of 54%, dropping to Rs 133 crore from Rs 289 crore during the same quarter of the last fiscal year.
