Ecosys Raises Rs 5 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding for Eco-Friendly Cleaning Solutions
Ecosys, a laundry and home cleaning brand, has successfully secured Rs 5 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by GVFL Prarambh Fund. This round saw participation from Proteus Partners, which is backed by operator-investors Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil. This recent fundraising has increased Ecosys’ total funding to Rs 7.94 crore.
The funds will be invested in brand development, expanding consumer outreach through digital channels, and innovating new formats in laundry and home cleaning, as stated by Ecosys in a press release.
About Ecosys
Founded in 2017 by Sumit Goyal and Chirag Dangi, Ecosys is dedicated to eco-friendly cleaning solutions, producing water-soluble cleaning and laundry pods. These pods consist of 10-ml PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) capsules that fully dissolve in water, significantly reducing single-use plastic waste.
Product Offerings
The Mumbai-based brand’s portfolio features eco-friendly laundry detergent pods, glass cleaners, floor cleaners, bathroom sanitizers, and kitchen sprays. All its formulations are non-toxic, biodegradable, and designed to be safe for children and pets. Users are encouraged to reuse their existing spray bottles rather than purchasing new plastic containers.
Market Growth and Positioning
Market research indicates that the household cleaners sector in India is expanding at an impressive rate of nearly 14% annually, surpassing the global growth rate.
Ecosys aims to establish itself as a premium, convenience-focused brand, distributing its products through both quick-commerce and e-commerce channels.
Sustainable Trends in the Industry
The laundry and home cleaning startup sector in India is witnessing a shift towards sustainable products, emphasising concentrated and water-efficient formats. This includes the adoption of laundry pods, plant-based detergents, refill solutions, and eco-friendly packaging.
Notably, Koparo raised Rs 14.5 crore in a recent extended pre-Series A round, while Cleevo garnered $1 million during its seed round. Beco, which offers plant-based home and personal care items including laundry liquids, recently secured $10 million from Tanglin Venture Partners. Additionally, Scrubsy attracted Rs 27 crore in funding from V3 Ventures in August this year.
