L’AcceleratOR: L’Oréal’s Sustainability Innovation Programme

L’AcceleratOR has chosen 13 companies from eight nations for its second cohort, which is centred on sustainable innovation. Among the participants are two startups hailing from India.

Supported by a significant fund of €100 million (approximately Rs 1,000 crore), this initiative aims to identify, pilot, and scale innovative technologies addressing issues related to climate, nature, and circularity. The Indian startups involved in this cohort include Without, a climate tech firm focused on recycling difficult-to-manage flexible packaging into long-lasting materials, and Nexus [Felis Leo Widgets], which is creating technology to manufacture energy storage batteries from agricultural waste.

Previously, Without was acknowledged as a winner in the L’Oréal SAPMENA Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program.

Acceleration Phase and Global Resources

The selected 13 companies will embark on an acceleration phase facilitated by the innovation team at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), concentrating on readiness for pilots. They will also gain access to L’Oréal’s extensive global resources for developing pilot projects lasting from 6 to 9 months and have the potential to scale successful solutions throughout the organisation’s operations.

Expanding Geographical Reach and New Challenges

The second iteration of L’AcceleratOR has broadened its geographical scope and now tackles a wider array of sustainability challenges, which includes water technology for the first time.

Docuseries Launching Alongside the Programme

Additionally, L’Oréal will unveil a docuseries titled Entering L’AcceleratOR, which will follow three companies from the previous cohort and showcase their collaborative efforts with L’Oréal teams in piloting and commercialising innovative solutions.
