OXG Space: Bengaluru Spacetech Startup Secures Funding
Bengaluru-based spacetech startup OXG Space has successfully raised Rs 17 crore in a funding round led by Aum Ventures via its India Innovation Fund II. This funding round also attracted investments from Skyroot Aerospace co-founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Bharath Daka, along with Cosmoserve founder Dr Chiran Phanindra. The newly acquired funds are intended to advance Mission Synapse, a 12-month initiative aimed at showcasing its essential technologies in orbit.
Key Technologies of OXG Space
Among the innovations being developed are a Ka-band phased-array antenna expected to achieve an initial 1 Gbps-class link, a deployable mesh reflector aimed at enhancing ground connectivity, and a deployable solar array designed to energise computing and communication payloads.
Founders and Mission Overview
Founded by former ISRO engineers Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, OXG Space is working on an orbital network that unites satellite connectivity with in-orbit computing to process Earth Observation (EO) data and deliver insights in near real-time. Typically, EO satellites store images until they come within reach of ground stations, causing a delay ranging from 4 to 12 hours between observation and actionable insights.
Target Markets
The company aims to serve defence, intelligence, and commercial satellite operators. The technology being developed is crafted to merge data from numerous satellites in orbit, allowing for expedited analysis of optical, radar, and signals-intelligence data.
Experience and Expertise of Founders
The founders of OXG Space bring over 17 years of combined expertise from India’s space programmes, including critical work on spacecraft systems for Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3.
