Ola Electric Mobility Stake Sale Details

Ola Electric Mobility is making headlines as SVF II Ostrich (DE) LLC, associated with SoftBank, has divested 5.55 crore shares in the company through open market transactions from January 6 to October 22, 2026, as reported in Ola Electric’s regulatory filing on October 26. During this timeframe, the investor also transferred 1.12 crore rights entitlements. Post these transactions, SVF II Ostrich’s shareholding in Ola Electric has decreased to 11.7% from 12.9%, while its diluted holding fell to 11.47% from 12.81%, according to the filing.

Ola Electric’s Rights Issue to Raise Rs 1,000 Crore

This stake divestment aligns with Ola Electric’s initiative to raise Rs 1,000 crore through a rights issue that commenced on October 22 and is set to conclude on October 30. The company is offering 37.03 crore partly paid-up equity shares at a price of Rs 27 each, which requires an upfront payment of Rs 16.20 per share.

Applications from Financial Services Firms

In another filing made on October 22, Ola Electric revealed that Motilal Oswal Financial Services and Calliope Capital Advisors have collectively applied for 2.39 crore shares as part of the rights issue. Specifically, Motilal Oswal has requested 1.28 crore shares, while Calliope Capital’s application is for 1.10 crore shares, after obtaining rights entitlements from promoter group entities ANI Technologies and Indus Trust.

Founder’s Commitment to the Rights Issue

Ola Electric’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, has pledged a 4.32% stake in the company to finance his involvement in the rights issue. It is important to note that this pledge was established to fund his subscription, and no shares were sold during this arrangement.

Purpose of the Rights Issue

The primary objective of this rights issue is to secure additional capital for Ola Electric amidst challenges to its business and financial stability. This latest fundraising effort follows Ola Electric’s previous Rs 780 crore qualified institutional placement in June.
