Tensrai: Revolutionising Physical AI with Pre-Seed Funding
Hyderabad-based Physical AI startup Tensrai has secured Rs 3.4 crore in a pre-seed funding round from India Accelerator, Finvolve, Hyderabad Angels, and various angel investors. This new funding will facilitate technology development, improve engineering and deployment capabilities, and aid in the expansion into both domestic and international markets, as stated in a press release.
About Tensrai and Its Vision
Tensrai, co-founded by Sai Nikhil Rao Gona, Venkata Sai Charan Chalamalasetty, Harshith Uppalapati, and Vivek Datta, is focused on creating a unified, retrofittable autonomy platform. This platform aims to empower industrial and commercial robots, vehicles, and machines to autonomously complete physical tasks.
Innovative Technology Integration
The platform integrates vision-first navigation, AI-driven localisation, vision-language model (VLM)-enhanced reasoning, autonomous mobility, robotic arm manipulation, and vision-language-action (VLA)-based teach-and-deploy abilities. This technology is designed to enable machines to understand their surroundings, reason through tasks, learn new skills, and carry out operations with minimal human input.
Expanding Autonomous Capabilities
Tensrai intends to provide autonomous capabilities not just for new machines but also through retrofitting existing equipment, which could significantly lower the costs and complexities associated with adopting robotics in various industrial and commercial environments.
Target Applications
The startup is focusing on applications such as autonomous material handling and cleaning in factories, warehouses, airports, hospitals, shopping centres, and corporate campuses. Additionally, it is in the process of developing a general-purpose mobile manipulator that merges autonomous movement with robotic arms for tasks related to material handling, cleaning, manufacturing, and construction.
Diverse Revenue Streams
Tensrai plans to generate revenue through multiple streams, including robot sales, autonomy retrofitting, Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS), and tailored solutions. Furthermore, the company has ambitions to expand into international markets.
Physical AI and Its Significance
This funding comes at a time when interest in Physical AI is on the rise, as it combines artificial intelligence with robotic systems to enable them to perceive and engage with the physical world effectively. Unlike traditional software-based AI applications, Physical AI systems are designed to translate perceptions and rationale into tangible actions.
By providing a cohesive autonomy platform for various types of machines, Tensrai aims to assist businesses in automating labour-intensive, repetitive, and operationally complex tasks in both industrial and commercial sectors.
