On Thursday, Anduril announced the construction of its extensive weapons manufacturing facility, Arsenal-1, located in Columbus, Ohio, confirming earlier information from StartupSuperb. In a blog post, Anduril disclosed plans to invest nearly $1 billion from its own funds into this project, which will span five million square feet. The announcement also highlighted that this development is expected to generate 4,000 job opportunities in the region.
This factory marks a significant advancement for the defence technology startup, established by Palmer Luckey, Trae Stephens, and others, enabling the company to enhance its production capabilities for autonomous systems focused on surveillance and weaponry.
Ohio’s attractiveness as a site was partly due to its proximity to Rickenbacker Airport. The location offers access to runways extending 12,000 feet, along with substantial land availability; the company has 500 acres nearby for potential future expansion, as stated in their announcement.
