WhatsApp Enhances User Personalisation with New Features
WhatsApp is rolling out innovative features that focus on improving user personalisation. The messaging platform now provides various options for customisation, which include chat themes and new wallpaper selections, enabling users to personalise the appearance of their conversations.
Custom Chat Themes for Personalised Conversations
With the introduction of custom chat themes, WhatsApp allows users to change both chat bubbles and backgrounds. There are pre-set themes available that adjust both elements simultaneously, and users also have the option to combine and match colours to create their own themes according to their preferences. Furthermore, WhatsApp users can choose to apply a consistent theme across all chats and channels or opt for different themes for each individual conversation. It’s essential to highlight that these themes will only be visible to the user who has set them, rather than to all chat participants. This differs from the implementation of chat themes on Instagram, another platform owned by Meta.
Expanded Wallpaper Library for Enhanced Customisation
In addition to chat themes, WhatsApp has expanded its offerings by introducing 30 new wallpaper options for chats, which adds to an already extensive collection. Users continue to have the ability to upload images from their camera roll, providing even more opportunities for customisation.
Accessing the New Features on Different Devices
To explore these new features, users can adjust settings based on their specific devices. For iOS users, individual chat themes can be customised by tapping the chat name located at the top of the screen. Conversely, Android users can locate the option by selecting the three-dot menu within a chat and choosing ‘Chat theme’. Those who wish to set a default theme for all chats and channels can do so by navigating to Settings > Chats > Default chat theme.
The rollout of these new features is currently underway globally, and they are expected to become available to all users in the upcoming weeks. This update signifies WhatsApp’s continued commitment to enhancing user experience and providing greater control over the app’s interface.
