Glance AI: Revolutionising Online Shopping with Generative AI
Consumer tech company Glance has unveiled Glance AI, a pioneering generative AI-driven commerce platform that seeks to transform the way consumers engage with online shopping. The platform is now accessible globally on both Android and iOS.
Glance positions this platform as the first inspiration-led commerce experience in the world, enabling users to discover curated fashion styles generated in real time by AI, rather than just searching for them. By simply uploading a selfie, consumers can visualise stylised outfits rendered photorealistically on their own image, directly linked to products from more than 400 brands.
In contrast to conventional e-commerce, Glance AI eliminates the hassle of scrolling and decision fatigue. Its multimodal AI engine, which combines commerce intelligence, generative visualisation, and a real-time shopping assistant, anticipates user preferences, suggests highly personalised outfits, and facilitates immediate purchases. Additionally, Glance AI is integrated into Glance-enabled Android lock screens, televisions, and brand websites, effectively transforming passive interfaces into dynamic commerce touchpoints.
Naveen Tewari, founder and CEO of InMobi and Glance, stated that in a world shifting from curated content to AI-generated experiences, Glance AI represents a significant paradigm change. He remarked that this initiative is one of their most ambitious technological investments, heralding the dawn of a new category: AI commerce.
According to the company, initial trials in America have demonstrated tremendous success, with 1.5 million users generating over 40 million personalised looks, where 50% opted to save or share these visuals, and 40% initiated purchase journeys.
While fashion is the initial application, Glance has plans to broaden its scope to include beauty, accessories, and travel in the upcoming months.
Established in 2019, Glance is a consumer tech enterprise incorporated in Singapore, operating platforms such as Glance, Roposo, and Nostra. It delivers lock screen content and commerce to over 450 million smartphones and is supported by Jio Platforms, Google, and Mithril Capital.
Glance has secured approximately $400 million to date, including a $200 million Series D round led by the Reliance-owned Jio platform, which valued it at $1.6 billion. From a financial perspective, the company has reported an impressive 89% year-on-year growth in revenue, reaching Rs 614 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2024.
