Millions of packages</a are pilfered annually. DoorBox</a aims to revolutionise package delivery with its innovative secure box, designed to deter theft while featuring live camera feeds and an automatic alarm that activates upon any tampering.
After successfully selling 2,000 units of its initial manual model, the startup introduced its newest product at CES 2025: Smart DoorBox.ai. This advanced system incorporates an AI-driven automatic unlocking mechanism that identifies when a package is being delivered, ensuring a smooth delivery process even in the recipient’s absence.
DoorBox was established by Kumar Sundaresan, motivated by his personal experience of having a valuable package containing his late father’s glasses and watch stolen soon after delivery. This venture marks Sundaresan’s fourth startup; he had previously launched three companies within the technology and online food ordering industries.
A distinctive feature of DoorBox is its robust steel cable, designed to be attached to a doorknob or any stationary object. This cable can withstand over 800 pounds of force, making it extremely difficult to break, according to the manufacturer. In the event of tampering, the system triggers a 125-decibel alarm, sending an instant alert via the mobile app. Additionally, users have the option to manually activate or deactivate the alarm at any time using the app. The box is capable of accommodating three to five medium-sized parcels.
The mobile application not only provides alarm alerts but also functions as a surveillance camera, enabling users to stream live video feeds for sensitive deliveries. The app further allows for remote locking and unlocking of the DoorBox.
Smart DoorBox.ai is available at a price of $400 for the metal model and $300 for the plastic alternative, accompanied by a $20 monthly subscription fee for app access.
