The smart pet wearable market is projected to reach $1.72 million by 2024. A new player in the pet technology sector, SATELLAI, has launched an innovative dog tracker and collar that connects directly with satellite tracking, eliminating the need for an LTE signal.
At CES 2025, SATELLAI unveiled its advanced pet tracker and smart collar, which feature health monitoring, activity tracking, and an AI coach accessible through a companion app to provide customised guidance on training and care routines tailored to your dog’s needs.
Mark Mao, the CEO and founder of the company, has a background with Huami, the Chinese smart wearables brand behind Amazfit, a competitor to Fitbit. The idea for SATELLAI originated when Mao realised his dog had injured its leg during his absence. The smart collar boasts seven different sensors that track the pet’s health, including metrics like breath and heart rate, as stated by the company.
While numerous pet trackers and smart collars are on the market, SATELLAI asserts that its products are unique in various ways. Notably, the tracker is equipped with a Qualcomm 9205S modem, enabling direct satellite connectivity without a terrestrial LTE signal. This allows for continuous location transmission, even in remote areas lacking cell tower coverage. The company claims this is the first-ever dog tracker to provide such direct satellite capabilities.
Additionally, the tracker incorporates a harness with an integrated solar panel, allowing it to recharge while your dog wears it.
Furthermore, the SATELLAI collar utilises dual signal transmitters for both L1 (the earliest GPS signal) and L5 (the most advanced) signals, enhancing positioning accuracy in challenging environments. The company explains that using these two varying bandwidths is beneficial when the collar is surrounded by obstacles like trees and walls, which can interfere with signal reception.
The collar also features functionalities such as virtual fencing and correctional feedback mechanisms designed to reduce excessive barking or to deter dogs from approaching restricted areas, such as swimming pools or thorny rose bushes.
SATELLAI’s smart collar is set for release in February, with plans to launch the tracker in the spring. Pricing for both products is yet to be announced.
