ClearDekho Eyewear Acquisition by Jaipuria Group
ClearDekho, an eyewear brand, has been purchased by the Jaipuria Group. This acquisition signifies the expansion of ClearDekho as a national eyewear provider and showcases its commitment to supplying eyewear to a broader audience in India. According to an official statement, the Jaipuria Group will take full control of ClearDekho by acquiring a 100% stake, with all current shareholders expected to phase out within two years.
Although ClearDekho will continue as an independent entity, its operations will now be overseen entirely by the Jaipuria Group. As the business evolves, there is potential for integration into the group’s overarching corporate structure. The financial details of the acquisition have not been revealed.
Established in 2017 by Shivi Singh, ClearDekho has concentrated on delivering affordable eyewear options. It functions as a hybrid retail chain, combining online sales with franchise-owned and company-operated (FOCO) storefronts. The brand aims to fill a market need by providing low-cost eyeglasses to low-income individuals in smaller towns and cities throughout India. ClearDekho’s product range includes prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, and contact lenses.
ClearDekho has set ambitious goals for growth, targeting Rs 300 crore in topline revenue within the next three years. The long-term aspiration is to secure a minimum of 10% of India’s eyewear market share over the next five to seven years.
To date, the company has successfully raised over Rs 100 crore (equivalent to more than $12 million) from various investors, including SphitiCap, Venture Catalysts, Dholakia Ventures, NB Ventures, Estrela Ventures, Cornerstone, and Aroa Ventures, affiliated with OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal.
In FY24, ClearDekho reported revenue of Rs 12.8 crore, alongside losses amounting to Rs 7.13 crore. The brand asserts it has over 100 retail locations across more than 50 cities, enjoys a gross margin exceeding 65%, and has achieved threefold growth in the past three years. ClearDekho credits its technology-driven, omnichannel strategy and hyperlocal presence as key elements in closing the accessibility gap within the optical retail sector.
