KRAFTON Expands Presence with Acquisition of Nautilus Mobile

KRAFTON, the developer of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI), has taken a significant step by acquiring a controlling stake in Pune-based game studio Nautilus Mobile for Rs 118 crore ($13.7 million). This represents KRAFTON’s inaugural full-control investment in India.

Nautilus Mobile and Its Legacy

Nautilus Mobile is widely recognised for its successful mobile cricket game, Real Cricket. The studio was fully acquired by JetSynthesys in 2020, with KRAFTON making a notable investment of Rs 40.5 crore in 2022.

Objectives of KRAFTON’s Acquisition

Through this acquisition, KRAFTON seeks to enhance the development of games in India and expand its footprint in the sports gaming sector. JetSynthesys will continue as a minority investor and collaborate with Nautilus, particularly in the Esports arena.

Statements from Company Leaders

KRAFTON India’s CEO, Sean Hyunil Sohn, stated that this partnership is expected to facilitate India’s rise as a global gaming hub. Meanwhile, Nautilus Mobile’s CEO, Anuj Mankar, expressed confidence that the collaboration will enable Real Cricket to flourish on an international scale.

KRAFTON’s Investment in Indian Startups

Since 2021, KRAFTON has invested more than $200 million in Indian startups, continuously supporting local game developers. As cricket and gaming rapidly gain popularity in India, this strategic move reinforces KRAFTON’s strong position within the nation’s gaming landscape.
