AgroStar Secures $30 Million Funding to Expand Its Agritech Solutions
Agritech startup AgroStar has successfully secured $30 million in a funding round spearheaded by the climate-centric investment firm Just Climate. This round, marking the first fundraising effort in nearly four years, included contributions from current investors such as Aavishkaar India, Bertelsmann, Evolvence India, Chiratae Ventures, and Hero Enterprises. The funds will be utilized to enhance AgroStar’s omnichannel growth, advance product innovation, and develop AI-related tools for farming and crop advisory services.
Overview of AgroStar and Its Operations
Founded in 2013 by Sitanshu Sheth and Shardul Sheth, AgroStar operates a hybrid marketplace that combines online and offline elements to assist farmers. The startup offers farm advisory services, agricultural inputs, and technical support, integrating its digital platform with a network of retail outlets.
AgroStar claims to have created a distribution network encompassing more than 10,000 retail stores, along with a digital platform that connects with over 10 million farmers. The startup features a diverse portfolio of 200 branded products, including biological and climate-responsive agricultural inputs.
Funding and Financial Overview
To date, AgroStar has raised over $140 million, with a notable $70 million from a Series D round led by Schroders in December 2021. Data from startup intelligence platforms indicate that before this latest funding, Chiratae Ventures held the largest share among external stakeholders, followed by Aavishkaar Capital, Accel, and Bertelsmann.
According to various sources, AgroStar reported revenues of Rs 761.51 crore in FY24. During the same period, the company experienced a loss of Rs 327.43 crore, with total expenses amounting to Rs 1,088.94 crore and a net cash flow from operations at negative Rs 135.09 crore.

AgroStar finds itself in competition with platforms such as Ninjacart, DeHaat, and Waycool in the agritech sector.
