Astrogate Labs: Innovating Laser Communication Solutions in Spacetech
Astrogate Labs is a spacetech startup that has just raised $1.3 million in its pre-Series funding round, supported by the Piper Serica Angel Fund. This financial backing will enhance the company’s efforts in developing laser communication terminals tailored for both space applications and potential terrestrial and airborne uses. The funding will also assist in scaling operations and fortifying collaborations with space agencies and defence organisations.
About Astrogate Labs
Founded by Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty, Astrogate Labs aims to enhance data downlink capabilities for small satellite constellations, enabling more efficient transmission of data to the Earth’s surface. With projections suggesting that over 25,000 small satellites will be in orbit by 2030, the reliance on current radio frequency systems could lead to significant bandwidth and spectrum issues.
Advancements in Communication Technology
Astrogate’s laser communication systems offer a promising alternative by facilitating high-speed data transmission, with capabilities reaching up to 10 Gbps, while also ensuring security. This scalable solution aims to address the limitations of conventional systems, thereby streamlining operations for satellite operators.
Acknowledgments and Support
The innovative technology developed by Astrogate Labs has garnered recognition, including accolades from the DRDO Dare to Dream 4.0 competition. Additionally, the company successfully completed the Seraphim Space Accelerator APAC Program in 2023. Based in Bengaluru, Astrogate Labs has garnered early-stage investment from prominent entities such as Speciale Invest, SatSure, and Anicut Capital, which has been crucial in advancing its groundbreaking technology.
