Calligo Technologies Secures $1.1 Million Funding

Calligo Technologies, a semiconductor startup, has successfully secured $1.1 million in a pre-Series A funding round, which was co-led by Seafund and Artha Venture Fund. The Bengaluru-based firm had previously raised $1.57 million from KITVEN and other investors.

Investment for Research and Development

The funds acquired will be allocated for research and development initiatives aimed at advancing the version 2.0 silicon chip and associated platform. Additionally, the company plans to bolster its engineering talent and technological capabilities.

About Calligo Technologies

Co-founded in 2012 by Anantha Kinnal, Rajaraman Subramanian, and Vinay N. Hebbali, Calligo Technologies has a strong focus on creating products and solutions tailored for High-Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data, and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. The objective is to address the performance hurdles encountered in computing, which are critical for extensive modelling and simulations in HPC systems, as well as for large-model training and inference in AI applications.

Innovations in Compiler Technology

CalligoTech has undertaken modifications to various compilers, including RISC-V C/C++/gFortran/Python, frameworks, and libraries, to facilitate support for Posits and to generate Posit-enabled executables natively. This innovative approach does not necessitate any source-level changes to execute HPC and AI applications.

India’s Growing Semiconductor Market

Market research indicates that the semiconductor market in India was valued at $6.67 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to $14.09 billion by 2032, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.1% during the forecast period from 2024 to 2032.

Collaborations and Developments

Over the past year, CalligoTech has claimed to have partnered with U.S. universities, national laboratories, and supercomputing centres to enhance the availability of tech talent while soft-launching its operations within the U.S. The company has also developed an accelerator board, achieved First Pass Silicon Version 1.0, and commenced shipping products to customers.
