Mealawe Secures $1 Million in Funding
Foodtech startup Mealawe has successfully raised $1 million in financing through a blend of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), support from a network of Shark Tank founders, and contributions from angel investors linked to well-known firms such as Goldman Sachs and Oracle.
The infusion of this new capital will enable the company to enhance its operations by broadening its network of women-led kitchens, improving corporate cafeteria services, and fortifying collaborations for sourcing organic ingredients.
About Mealawe
Founded by Rupesh Kumar alongside co-founders Pratap Haldar and Nikhil Jain, Mealawe started as a platform aimed at connecting home chefs with customers, delivering delicious, homemade-style meals. As the company evolves, it is working to integrate home chefs and women from the workforce into a well-structured kitchen framework. This initiative aims to generate economic opportunities while preserving the authentic experience of homemade food.
Commitment to Quality
To guarantee the provision of high-quality, nourishing meals, Mealawe sources organic kitchen staples directly, including bilona ghee, wood-pressed oils, and organic spices. The company collaborates with farmers to secure superior food quality while promoting sustainable farming practices.
Corporate Services
Apart from meal delivery services, Mealawe has established a corporate cafeteria management platform, enabling businesses to offer exceptional meals without the associated operational challenges. For smaller enterprises without physical cafeteria facilities, Mealawe provides a virtual cafeteria solution to ensure that employees have easy access to meals.
Rapid Growth and Expansion Plans
Since its inception in October 2022, Mealawe has reported significant growth, achieving deliveries of over 30,000 meals each month. Currently serving areas such as Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kota, Mealawe is diligently working towards a nationwide presence. The company aims to expand into 14 additional cities within the next 10 to 12 months, with the ambitious goal of delivering 1 million meals monthly.
