Ola Electric Mobility Limited Plans to Raise Rs 1,500 Crore
Ola Electric Mobility Limited is initiating plans to secure up to Rs 1,500 crore through a combination of equity and convertible securities. A recent filing with the stock exchange revealed that the company’s board approved this fundraising strategy during a meeting on October 25. The funds may be acquired through various methods including a further public offer, rights issue, qualified institutional placement, private placement, or any other lawful option.
Commitment to Electric Mobility
Since its listing on the stock exchanges in August of the previous year, Ola Electric has been diligently broadening its electric two-wheeler range and enhancing charging infrastructure nationwide. The company is also dedicating resources to its Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu to elevate domestic battery manufacturing capabilities.
Organisational Changes and Stakeholder Dynamics
This fundraising initiative occurs during a period of organisational restructuring and changes within the company’s shareholder composition. In June 2025, Hyundai Motor and Kia Corporation divested their complete stake in Ola Electric for approximately Rs 690 crore through block transactions. Additionally, SoftBank has reduced its investment in the enterprise, while Z47’s holdings have dipped below the 2% threshold following a partial exit.
Market Performance and Competitive Landscape
In the first quarter of FY26, Ola Electric recorded a significant 50% drop in revenue, coupled with a 23% surge in losses. Concurrently, the competitive landscape within the electric two-wheeler sector has intensified, highlighted by Ather Energy eclipsing Ola Electric in sales for September, while TVS Motor maintained its leading position in this segment.
