Proost Achieves Impressive Growth in FY25

Proost, a burgeoning beer startup, has shown remarkable progress in FY25, with its revenue skyrocketing by 2.7 times. In addition to this significant revenue growth, the company proudly announced reaching EBITDA breakeven during the fiscal year, as stated in their press release. The operational revenue soared by 174%, escalating from Rs 42 crore in FY24 to Rs 115 crore in FY25. The company attributes this surge in growth to a substantial increase in sales volume, jumping from 2.5 lakh cases in FY24 to 8 lakh cases in FY25.

Proost’s CEO and co-founder, Tarun Bhargava, expressed that transforming revenue from approximately Rs 42 crore in FY24 to Rs 115 crore in FY25 and attaining EBITDA breakeven is a significant achievement for the team. He noted that this outcome confirms the potential for a beer brand in India to be developed sustainably and with capital efficiency.

According to the press release, the company reached EBITDA breakeven largely due to rigorous cost management. A key strategy involved keeping marketing and branding expenditures below 2% of revenue while sustaining a streamlined organisational framework to manage workforce costs effectively.

Various reports indicate that Proost has successfully raised $8 million in funding, with Dauble Pte, UMJD Family, Dev Punj, and Manshi Parashar highlighted as its main investors. Proost’s efficient capital growth emerges as some early entrants in the craft beer sector reconsider their business strategies. For instance, Bira 91, once a prominent homegrown beer brand, has reduced its operations in the past year due to regulatory challenges impacting sales across several states. Furthermore, the company has postponed its IPO plans amid financial pressures. In this competitive landscape, Proost also faces competition from brands such as Maka Di, Arbor Brewing Company, Kati Patang, Witlinger, and Simba.
