Sridhar Vembu, the CEO of Zoho Corporation, has praised Sriram Krishnan’s recent appointment as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Vembu first recognised Krishnan’s potential in 2004 when he graduated from SRM University. At that time, Krishnan had created one of India’s pioneering programming blogs, which significantly impressed Vembu.

Vembu expressed, “I was so impressed I wanted to recruit him but Microsoft had already brought him on board. We have kept in touch as he later relocated to Silicon Valley and became an entrepreneur,” in a post on X.

Krishnan has a notable background in technology, having led product and engineering teams at major firms such as X, Meta, and Snap. He began his career at Microsoft as one of the founding members of Windows Azure and has also made personal investments in various technology ventures.

“President Trump has found an exceptional talent for his technology team!” Vembu remarked.

President-elect Donald Trump announced via his social media platform, Truth Social, that Krishnan will collaborate closely with David Sacks, the newly appointed White House AI and Crypto Czar. His responsibilities will include ensuring US leadership in artificial intelligence and developing and coordinating AI policies throughout the US government. This role will involve engagement with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

Previously, in November, Krishnan disclosed his departure from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz after four years. “After 4 years at a16z, I’m leaving the firm at the end of the year to embark on a new adventure! What’s next? I will share more soon, but it’s clear we are experiencing a unique moment in history. I am excited to fully engage in something I have long wanted to pursue. More details will follow in the coming months,” he stated in a post on X.
