Swiggy Shuts Down Snacc: A Shift in Food Delivery Strategy

Bengaluru-based food delivery leader Swiggy has decided to discontinue Snacc, its standalone application designed for 10–15 minute food deliveries, less than a year after its launch, as revealed in an internal email to employees. Snacc was introduced in January 2025 as a specialised app providing rapid delivery of snacks, drinks, and ready-to-eat meals. The service operated from centrally stocked hubs and was intended to be Swiggy’s venture into ultra-fast food delivery, distinct from its main platform.

In the internal message, reviewed by Startup Superb, the company highlighted that growth across its food delivery sector continues to be robust, while stressing its commitment to prudent capital allocation and focusing on scalable initiatives. According to the communication, Swiggy’s food delivery segment witnessed a 20.5% year-on-year increase, driven by a rise in order volumes and enhancing average order values (AOVs).

Service Expansion and Limitations

Initially, Snacc was launched in select areas of Bengaluru and subsequently extended to Gurugram and Noida. Nonetheless, the service was confined to a limited number of markets and did not achieve significant national presence.

Industry Trends and Comparisons

Last year, Zepto Café, the quick-service food branch of Zepto, closed operations at nearly 200 of its 600 outlets as part of a restructuring effort to tackle weak demand in specific areas. Similarly, Ola also paused its Ola Foods delivery service following its reintroduction.
