Swiggy’s Decision to Discontinue Minis Digital Storefront
Swiggy is putting an end to its digital storefront solution, known as Minis, with seller services set to cease by August 10, as reported by The Economic Times. This decision marks a significant shift for the platform.
Overview of Minis
Launched in 2022, Minis was a zero-commission software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform aimed at helping small businesses, creators, and professionals establish online stores without the need for their own websites or applications. This innovative solution allowed users to sell products, provide consultations, and conduct webinars.
Phased Wind-Down of Services
Minis has not been featured on the Swiggy app for over a year, indicating a gradual phase-out. The platform included various categories, such as home-cooked meals, handmade items, and baking supplies, catering to diverse customer needs.
Swiggy’s Business Experimentation
Swiggy has ventured into numerous sectors beyond its primary delivery service over the years. These attempts have included Genie (hyperlocal delivery), Snacc (rapid food delivery), Pyng (a professional services marketplace), and Crew (a travel and lifestyle concierge service). Recently, the Bengaluru-based company also terminated Genie in major cities in May of this year.
