Unbox Robotics Raises $28 Million for Supply Chain Innovation
Unbox Robotics, a company focused on supply chain robotics technology, has successfully secured $28 million during its latest funding round. This funding, which includes both primary and secondary capital, was primarily led by ICICI Venture and saw participation from RedStartLabs, a division of Info Edge, along with F Prime, 3one4 Capital, Navam Capital, Force Ventures, and other existing investors. Based in Pune, the firm had previously raised $14.1 million from 3one4 Capital and other backers. The funds from this round are aimed at expanding the engineering team, speeding up product development, and increasing market presence in both India and international markets. Additionally, part of the secondary capital will facilitate liquidity for employees through the company’s ESOP programme, as highlighted in a recent press release.

Founded in 2019 by Pramod Ghadge and Sahid Memon, Unbox Robotics is dedicated to supply chain technology, providing AI-driven, software-defined vertical robotic parcel sortation systems tailored for the ecommerce and logistics sectors. The innovative systems employ proprietary Swarm Intelligence to achieve space-efficient automation, requiring 50 to 80 percent less space while significantly boosting productivity and enabling fiscally efficient warehouse operations, especially during peak demands.
Market Presence and Growth Strategy
Unbox Robotics mainly serves ecommerce, retail, and logistics clients across India, Europe, and the United States. The company boasts active deployments in Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and is nearing a deal in Poland. In the US market, preparations are underway for the first large-scale deployment with a third-party logistics provider. To date, the company has installed approximately 500 robots in warehouses worldwide.
Revenue Insights
The company reports that nearly 96 percent of its revenue in the past year has originated from Western markets, with India contributing around 4 percent. Unbox Robotics operates on both an upfront sales model and a Robot as a Service model, enabling clients to either buy robots directly or choose a subscription-based service.
Future Prospects
In addition to its focus on ecommerce and retail, Unbox Robotics is exploring opportunities within pharmaceutical manufacturing as a promising growth area. Other significant competitors in this industry include CynLr, noted for its visual object intelligence, General Autonomy, Manav, and Ati Motors, which is engaged in creating humanoid robots for industrial logistics.
