Amazon’s Advertising Plans for Prime Members
Amazon has shared its intention to begin displaying limited advertisements to all paying customers from 17 June 2025.
In a communication sent to customers on 13 May, Amazon elaborated on its strategy to introduce these ads. The company also stated its goal of ensuring “meaningfully fewer ads than TV channels and other streaming services,” as it seeks to enhance its swiftly expanding advertising sector.
Ad-Free Option for Amazon Prime Subscribers
For users desiring a completely ad-free experience, Amazon has introduced a new plan. Current subscribers can choose to pay an additional ₹699 per year or ₹129 per month on top of their existing Amazon Prime membership to enjoy content without any ads.
Amazon reassured customers in its email, stating that there will be no alterations to their Prime membership. Prime members can still benefit from an extensive array of shopping, savings, and entertainment options.
Impact on Prime Memberships
Amazon clarified that current Prime members will not be impacted by this new advertising approach. Subscription prices will remain unchanged, ensuring that the ad-free tier is merely an optional enhancement, rather than a requirement for users.
It’s important to note that content accessed through Amazon MX Player will continue to feature advertisements, even if users opt for the additional ad-free subscription option.
