Anthropic Expands Partnership with Google and Broadcom for AI Development
On April 7, Anthropic revealed plans to enhance its partnership with Google and Broadcom to secure substantial gigawatts of cutting-edge TPU capacity, intended to go live in 2027. This robust computing infrastructure will enable Anthropic to elevate the performance of its Claude AI models and cater to the increasing global customer demand.
Rapid Growth in AI Demand
Anthropic underscored its swift growth in customer interest and revenue concerning its Claude AI models in 2026. The company’s annual revenue has surged from $9 billion at the close of 2025 to over $30 billion, positioning its post-money valuation at a remarkable $380 billion.
Customer Base Expansion
During the Series G fundraising in February, Anthropic had around 500 business clients each contributing over $1 million annually for its services. This figure has now doubled to more than 1,000 customers in under two months. Reports indicate that the key driver behind this revenue surge is Anthropic’s Claude Code, a specialized coding and agent tool.
Additionally, the company addressed the concerns surrounding the recent Oracle layoffs in 2026, which raised questions about process, pay, and scale.
Commitment to Growth
Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s CFO, stated in a blog post, “We are developing the necessary capacity to accommodate the exponential growth we’ve witnessed in our client base while enabling Claude to set new standards in AI development.”
He further remarked, “We are making our most substantial compute commitment to date to keep up with our unparalleled growth.” According to Broadcom’s SEC filing, this partnership will grant Anthropic access to 3.5 gigawatts of computing capacity from Google’s AI processors.
Advantages of Custom Silicon
This arrangement will allow the company to depend on tailor-made silicon (TPUs) instead of traditional GPUs, thus obtaining greater control over its compute framework. Broadcom noted that the expanded compute capacity will be reliant on Anthropic’s ongoing commercial success.
“In connection with this deployment, discussions are underway with various operational and financial partners,” Broadcom added.
Moreover, Broadcom has established a partnership with OpenAI to create custom silicon for AI.
