Apple’s New Product Announcements Expected This Week
Apple is gearing up to unveil new products this week, with indications suggesting a surprise launch instead of a conventional major event. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shares that the tech powerhouse could reveal the much-anticipated fourth-generation iPhone SE, along with updates to the iPad range and MacBook Air, in the near future.
iPhone SE (4th Generation) Launch
The iPhone SE (4th generation) is set to be a notable upgrade to Apple’s budget smartphone. Sources indicate that it will take design cues from the iPhone 14, featuring a bigger display with a notch for Face ID, which signals the retirement of the home button and Touch ID. The device is expected to be equipped with Apple’s A18 chip—an advanced processor anticipated to be part of the iPhone 16 series—enhancing performance and capabilities, particularly for AI-enhanced features such as Apple’s Writing Tools and Clean Up. Moreover, it may adopt the USB-C standard, following Apple’s shift from Lightning ports in compliance with EU regulations.
Updates to iPad and MacBook Air
In addition to the new iPhone SE, Apple is predicted to launch updates to its iPad lineup. Rumours suggest the introduction of a new entry-level iPad and an upgraded iPad Air, which could potentially include a larger 12.9-inch model. The MacBook Air may also see enhancements as it is likely to be powered by the M4 chip, making it the first Mac to contain Apple’s next-generation silicon, which paves the way for additional M4-equipped Macs later this year.
Powerbeats Pro 2 Release Details
Gurman has noted that Apple’s Beats brand might launch the Powerbeats Pro 2 this week. The original Powerbeats Pro, introduced in 2019, continues to be a favourite among fitness enthusiasts, and an updated model featuring enhanced battery life and sound quality would definitely be a sought-after addition.
Timing of Announcements
Apple usually announces new products on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, hinting that press releases could appear as soon as February 6 or 7. With no formal event scheduled, these launches are expected to occur quietly, although Apple fans will likely be watching closely for updates.
As always, these insights remain tentative until Apple officially verifies them. If these speculations hold true, this could signal Apple’s first significant launch of 2025.
