Apna Safety: Revolutionising Recruitment Verification

Bengaluru-based jobs and careers platform Apna.co has unveiled an innovative AI-driven verification tool known as Apna Safety. This system is designed to diminish fraudulent recruitment practices, particularly during India’s busy festive hiring period.

The Apna Safety tool assesses recruiters by utilising official business records, domain verification, and digital activity analysis to generate a reliability score. According to Apna.co, their pilot programme conducted in August and September 2025 successfully verified over 146,000 recruiters, resulting in a 45% decline in scam exposure for job applicants. The company also noted a 60% decrease in safety-related complaints on its application during the same timeframe, with its rating on the Play Store improving to 4.7.

How Apna Safety Operates

Apna Safety empowers candidates to verify the legitimacy of recruiters directly through the platform by simply entering a phone number. Recruiters are categorised as active, blocked, or unregistered, and suspicious profiles can be flagged directly in the system. The AI technology cross-references company details with GST, PAN, and CIN records, while recruiter information is authenticated through Aadhaar. Recruiters who do not meet these verification standards may face restrictions or be subsequently blocked.

Additionally, the feature effectively identifies prevalent scam techniques, such as requests for registration fees, security deposits, training costs, or salary transfers. Candidates are alerted in real-time within the application whenever such warning signs are detected.

He emphasised their goal: every Indian should have the opportunity to pursue a career with confidence, dignity, and safety.

Cyber Crime Statistics

Data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) indicates that cyber frauds cost Indians over ₹22,800 crore in 2024, with job-related scams and part-time work-from-home schemes representing the most substantial category of complaints. Industry analyses suggest that job scams alone led to losses estimated at about ₹5,100 crore, significantly impacting fresh graduates and frontline workers in sectors like e-commerce, logistics, telecalling, and customer support.
