Canon India has introduced the EOS R50 V, marking its inaugural entry in the innovative EOS V-series, designed specifically for video production enthusiasts. The EOS R50 V kit, which includes the cutting-edge RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, is set to hit the shelves starting April 28, available on Canon’s official website and through officially authorized retailers, at a price of ₹79,995. The lens can also be purchased separately for ₹33,995.

Compact Design for Video Production

The EOS R50 V is marketed as a compact, cinema-grade device, eliminating the viewfinder to streamline its design. This camera introduces a vertical tripod socket to enable optimal handheld framing and features direct one-touch controls for livestreaming.

According to Canon, “The EOS R50 V transcends being just a camera; it’s a comprehensive production studio compacted into a user-friendly device.”

Advanced Video Features

Distinguishing itself from conventional mirrorless cameras, the EOS R50 V is heavily focused on video production capabilities. It features 4K 30p oversampling, cropped 4K 60p, and Full HD video shooting at up to 120fps with integrated audio. Its support for Canon Log 3 provides a cinematic dynamic range, allowing for sophisticated colour grading during post-production. The innovative Cinema View function delivers pre-set angles and frame rates ideal for film-like results.

This camera also boasts 14 distinct colour filters, along with in-camera modes for slow and fast-motion video, allowing creators to toggle livestreaming, colour effects, and recording easily. Important tools, such as zebra patterns and false colour displays, assist videographers in precisely monitoring exposure.

At its core, the EOS R50 V is powered by Canon’s DIGIC X processor and features a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, complemented by Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology for accurate and dependable autofocus during both video recording and photography.

This lens offers 15 adjustable speed settings, which can be controlled via the lens ring, camera body zoom lever, or remotely through Canon’s Camera Connect application. Additionally, it provides up to 5 stops of optical image stabilization and a remarkable 7.5 stops when used with compatible in-body IS cameras.

With a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m and a magnification of 0.38x, this lens is ideally suited for product demonstrations and the creation of close-up content.
