Google Remembers Air India Plane Crash Victims

Tech giant Google has shown its sympathies for those affected by the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad by placing a black ribbon on the homepage of its search engine.

The solemn icon is located just beneath the search bar. When hovered over, it reveals a message stating: “In memory of the victims of the tragic plane crash.”

The London-bound Air India flight AI171, which carried 242 passengers and crew, tragically crashed into the grounds of a medical college in Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning. Upon impact, the aircraft burst into flames.

Air India has confirmed that the devastating incident resulted in the loss of 241 lives. There was one survivor who is currently receiving medical attention for injuries suffered during the incident.

The passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals.

The 11-year-old aircraft, a Boeing 737 Dreamliner, reportedly experienced a rapid loss of altitude before igniting in mid-air. Eyewitnesses described the blaze and smoke as visible from several miles away.

The plane went down near the southern boundary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, crashing into the city civil hospital and BJ Medical College. Sadly, several individuals on the ground also lost their lives, making this one of India’s most tragic aviation disasters in recent years.
