xAI Enhances Grok with Memory Feature
xAI is progressively narrowing the divide between Grok and its competitors such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek. Recently, xAI introduced a novel “memory” capability for Grok, enabling the chatbot to recall conversations and information shared by users.
This innovative feature allows Grok to retain details from previous chats and offer personalised suggestions. Users will have the opportunity to refine Grok’s performance by engaging in multiple discussions with the AI chatbot, thereby enhancing the quality of responses as it effectively “learns” from interactions.
Current Testing Phase of Memory Feature
The new memory functionality is currently undergoing beta testing on Grok.com and the Grok application available for both iOS and Android devices. Unfortunately, it is not accessible to users located in the EU or the UK.
Data Controls and Memory Management
The memory setting can be disabled from the Data Controls menu, providing users with the ability to delete individual saved memories according to their preferences.
Grok is not the sole chatbot offering this type of memory capability. ChatGPT has maintained a similar feature for quite some time, with OpenAI recently enhancing it to include references to the user’s complete chat history. Furthermore, Google’s Gemini operates a feature that enables it to recall information based on user inputs.
