India AI Impact Summit 2026: Yotta and Nvidia to Expand AI Computing Capacity
India AI Impact Summit 2026 is on the horizon as Yotta Data Services collaborates with US chipmaker Nvidia to unveil a significant boost in artificial intelligence computing capacity within the country. Yotta’s Chief Executive, Sunil Gupta, provided insights into this expansion on 16 February, highlighting the surge in demand for AI infrastructure.
Gupta mentioned that an important announcement from Yotta and Nvidia regarding the scaling up of GPU capacity would be made shortly. GPUs, primarily from Nvidia, play a vital role in training and executing sophisticated AI models. As India strives to enhance its domestic AI capabilities, securing these crucial chips has become a top priority.
Current GPU Deployment and Future Plans
According to Gupta, Yotta has successfully integrated nearly 10,000 GPUs over the past two years and is looking to extend this further to avoid any shortages as the adoption of AI becomes increasingly widespread.
He emphasised the need for ensuring that as India’s AI applications move into the production phase, there will always be an adequate supply of GPUs. The ongoing compute resources will be consistently accessible.
India’s Role in the Global AI Landscape
The anticipated expansion comes at a time when India aims to not only be a significant consumer of AI technologies but also a global centre for AI services. This ambition is underlined by government initiatives and growing private sector investments in data centres.
Gupta pointed out that India’s technology adoption usually accelerates when costs decrease and services become more refined. He referenced mobile technology and digital finance as examples of this effect.
The tipping point occurs when users receive optimal outcomes at the lowest costs, resulting in a large-scale increase in adoption. Gupta suggested that AI might lead to revolutionary transformations across various sectors, akin to those experienced with digital payments.
Challenges of Widespread AI Adoption
Gupta cautioned that the extensive use of AI among India’s vast population could significantly heighten the demand for data processing and electricity, necessitating substantial growth in data centre capabilities.
He acknowledged that government backing and private investment are crucial in speeding up infrastructure development. He forecasts that within two years, the availability of compute resources will no longer pose a significant barrier in India.
Gupta reiterated that their vision is not solely to cater to Indian citizens but also to draw global AI demands into the nation.
