Instagram Introduces iPad App for Enhanced User Experience
Instagram has launched its inaugural iPad app, tailored for larger displays and structured to optimise the tablet experience. This update is now accessible worldwide, presenting a reimagined interface, fresh navigation tools, and increased space for content engagement.
Designed for Optimal Experience
Meta indicated that this app aims to mirror how individuals utilise tablets for leisurely entertainment, featuring Reels prominently. Upon opening Instagram on the iPad, users will be greeted by a direct launch into Reels, while Stories are positioned at the screen’s top, and messaging is just a tap away.
New Following Tab and Feed Options
The iPad version debuts a newly redesigned “Following” tab, assisting users in staying updated with their preferred accounts. It encompasses three feed selections:
- All: Suggested posts and reels from all followed accounts.
- Friends: Updates from shared connections.
- Latest: Posts and reels sorted chronologically, showcasing the newest content first.
Users have the flexibility to prioritise these feeds in any desired order, allowing for personalised management of their updates.
Optimised for Larger Screens
Instagram has revamped the app to accommodate larger displays, streamlining the viewing of messages and notifications side by side. Users can view comments on reels while simultaneously watching the video in full screen.
A Space to Play
Meta characterised the app as the Instagram users adore, now offering ample space for interaction and discovery.
Compatibility and Availability
Instagram for iPad is compatible with devices operating on iPadOS 15.1 or higher and can be downloaded at no cost from the App Store. Meta has also confirmed that a tablet-optimised version will be made available for Android tablets in the near future.
