Nothing Phone (3): The Latest Smartphone with Impressive Features
Nothing has recently presented its new smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3), during an exciting global launch event. This model builds on the design elements of its predecessors while introducing significant enhancements in performance, display, software, and robustness, all while maintaining the brand’s unique transparent look.
Display Technology of the Nothing Phone (3)
The Phone (3) boasts a 6.67-inch flexible AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 1260 x 2800, an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, and a peak brightness that reaches an impressive 4500 nits, making it the brightest device in the Nothing lineup. With HDR10+ support and a 10-bit colour depth, this panel delivers striking contrasts and cinematic-quality visuals.
Design and Durability
Weighing 218g and measuring 8.99mm in thickness, the Phone (3) is 18% slimmer than its predecessor, Phone (2), thanks to a newly crafted symmetrical bezel that is just 1.87mm wide. Both the front and back of the device are safeguarded with Corning Gorilla Glass (7i on the front and Victus on the back), and it carries an IP68 rating, ensuring dust and water resistance.
Performance Specifications
The heart of the Phone (3) is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, constructed on a 4nm process, featuring an 8-core Kryo CPU with speeds up to 3.21GHz and an Adreno 825 GPU. Performance claims reveal a 36% uplift in CPU capacity, an 88% enhancement in graphics processing, and a remarkable 125% increase in AI processing capabilities compared to its predecessor. The device also accommodates up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Connectivity Features
When it comes to connectivity, the Phone (3) excels with dual 5G support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, eSIM, NFC, and compatibility with all major global bands, including NavIC.
Camera Capabilities
A major update in the Phone (3) is its camera system, featuring an all-50MP quad-camera setup, which includes:
- 50MP f/1.68 main camera with OIS/EIS and a 1/1.3” sensor
- 50MP f/2.68 periscope lens with 6x in-sensor zoom and up to 60x AI Super Res Zoom
- 50MP ultra-wide lens (114° FOV) designed for action camera-style video
- 50MP front camera supporting 4K video capabilities
The camera system enables 4K Ultra XDR video recording at 60fps, powered by the TrueLens Engine 4, which offers real-time HDR, motion tracking, macro and portrait optimisation, along with enhanced low-light performance.
Innovative Glyph Features
The Glyph Matrix found on the back has undergone an upgrade, now featuring 489 LEDs and a new Glyph Button. This addition facilitates app shortcuts, visual notifications, and entertaining “Glyph Toys” such as Rock-Paper-Scissors and the Magic 8 Ball. Developers can also create custom integrations through the Glyph SDK, which is now accessible in the Nothing Community.
Essential Space Software Feature
A notable software function is Essential Space, which works in conjunction with the Essential Key. By pressing the key, users can capture thoughts, save screenshots, or start voice-to-text note-taking. Additional functions like Flip to Record provide transcriptions, summaries, and speaker identification, all stored securely and processed on-device unless stated otherwise.
Software and Updates
The Phone (3) comes with Nothing OS 3.5, based on Android 15, ensuring 5 years of Android updates and 7 years of security patches. The next iteration, Nothing OS 4.0 with Android 16, has already been confirmed for release later this year.
Battery Life and Charging
In India, the Phone (3) will feature a larger 5500mAh typical battery (5150mAh rated globally), constructed with silicon-carbon chemistry to achieve greater energy density. The phone supports 65W wired charging, reaching from 1% to 100% in just 54 minutes. Furthermore, it includes 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging at 5W.
Quality and Sustainability
Nothing claims that the Phone (3) has successfully passed over 95,000 quality tests, including drop, bend (with a 600N force), and impact tests to ensure battery safety. The device emphasises sustainability, being made from 100% recycled aluminium and packaged without plastic.
Pricing and Availability
The Nothing Phone (3) is priced at ₹79,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant and ₹89,999 for the 16GB/512GB model in India. It will be available through Flipkart, Flipkart Minutes, Vijay Sales, Croma, and other major retail stores beginning on July 15, 2025.
