Oppo F29 5G Series Launch in India

Oppo has introduced the Oppo F29 5G series in India, featuring two models: the Oppo F29 5G and the Oppo F29 Pro 5G. According to Oppo, these smartphones are designed with enhanced durability features such as Sponge Bionic Cushioning to safeguard against accidental drops, an aerospace-grade AM04 aluminium alloy frame, and a MIL-STD-810H-2022 rating for added protection.

The Oppo F29 series is notable for incorporating Oppo’s exclusive Hunter Antenna Architecture, which claims to offer a 300% increase in signal strength, making it well-suited for locations where cellular reception tends to be weak, including underpasses and basements. Oppo highlights that the F29 series boasts comprehensive antenna coverage of 84.5%, the largest in its segment. This ensures seamless connectivity, even when the device is used in horizontal mode and the antenna is obstructed.

Specifications of Oppo F29 5G

The base model features a 6.7″ flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and has undergone IP66, IP68, and IP69 testing by SGS in Bengaluru for improved durability.

The device weighs 185g in the Solid Purple variant and 195g in the Glacier Blue variant, maintaining a slim profile at 7.65mm.

Photography capabilities include a 50MP main camera, a 2MP monochrome depth camera on the rear, and a 16MP Sony sensor on the front.

Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, with options for up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. A large 6500mAh battery supports 45W fast charging.

The device runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, with Oppo promising 2 years of operating system updates and 3 years of security upgrades.

The Pro model is equipped with a 6.7″ quad-curved FHD+ display, featuring a resolution of 2412 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It utilises Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and has been tested for IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings by SGS, Bengaluru for enhanced durability.

Weighing 180g, the Pro model has a thinner profile at 7.55mm, and it is available in two colours: Marble White and Granite Black.

For photography, this variant has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), alongside the same 2MP monochrome depth camera and a 16MP Sony sensor as featured in the base model.

The device operates on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset and allows for up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It is powered by a 6000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

Similar to the base model, this device also comes with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, and Oppo has committed to 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security support.

The Oppo F29 5G will be available from the Oppo E-store, Flipkart, Amazon, and various retail outlets from the 27th of March, while the Oppo F29 Pro 5G will be up for grabs starting from the 1st of April.
