Stainless-steel SD cards have made their debut in India with Lexar’s launch of the ARMOR GOLD and SILVER PRO SDXC UHS-II Cards. These cards merge exceptional durability with impressive speed, tailored specifically for professionals operating in challenging conditions.

The new cards are designed to be 37 times more resilient than standard SD cards and boast an IP68 rating for dust, water, and drop resistance. These features address significant challenges faced by photographers and videographers who often contend with environmental stress and potential physical damage.

Fissal Oubida, General Manager of Lexar Co., mentioned that with the ARMOR GOLD and SILVER PRO SDXC UHS-II Cards available in India, they are setting a new standard in durability and speed, enabling creators to explore new possibilities even in the harshest conditions.

Despite their stainless-steel casing, these cards comply with SD Association thickness standards, ensuring compatibility with all suitable camera slots. They are also tested for resilience against thermal and static interference, a vital feature for users shooting in unpredictable environments.

Performance and Speed of Stainless-Steel SD Cards

Both ARMOR GOLD and SILVER PRO cards conform to Video Speed Class 60 (V60), allowing for seamless 6K video recording without any dropped frames. When used alongside a USB 3.2 card reader, users can anticipate read speeds reaching up to 280MB/s. The write speeds vary: the GOLD card offers up to 210MB/s, while the SILVER PRO supports write speeds of up to 160MB/s.

In an effort to enhance structural integrity, Lexar has eliminated traditional design features like the write-protection switch and ribs. Each card is also bundled with the Lexar Recovery Tool, which assists in retrieving files that may have been accidentally deleted.
