Excitement Builds for the Launch of Nothing’s Premium Smartphone

Nothing is preparing to unveil its most advanced smartphone yet — the Nothing Phone (3) — anticipated to make its debut in July 2025. With formal teasers already circulating on social media platforms, this flagship phone signifies a major shift in the company’s design concepts, capabilities, and software aspirations.

Potential End of the Iconic Glyph Interface

In an unexpected twist, Nothing has hinted at the discontinuation of its well-known Glyph Interface. A recent teaser on X (formerly Twitter) boldly announced, “We killed the Glyph Interface,” accompanied by a video showcasing the original lights dimming. This suggests that the Phone (3) may launch with a completely new back design, potentially omitting the feature that helped Nothing establish its position in a competitive smartphone landscape.

However, there are indications of something innovative on the horizon. Teaser images and enigmatic posts hint at a new visual identity, possibly featuring a dot-matrix or pixelated display on the back. Retro-inspired animations, a pixelated “3,” and arcade-like designs suggest a blend of nostalgia and futurism, merging vintage tech aesthetics with contemporary design.

Upgraded Build Quality and Design Innovations

Based on the current teasers, the Phone (3) promises a more sophisticated and high-quality build. A close-up reveal of the device suggests a dual-texture back panel, incorporating a unique integrated button and a textured finish. This highlights the brand’s focus on distinctive hardware design. Carl Pei, co-founder of Nothing, stated that the Phone (3) will utilize “premium materials” and deliver a “software experience that really levels things up.”

Advanced Display and Performance Capabilities

On the hardware side, the Nothing Phone (3) is rumoured to sport a 6.77-inch AMOLED display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Powering this device is likely to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The smartphone is expected to incorporate a 5000mAh battery with support for 50W wired charging and 20W wireless charging. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that Nothing may incorporate Silicon Carbon battery technology for enhanced efficiency and durability.

Camera Technology and AI Features

The Nothing Phone (3) is set to feature a triple-camera system on the rear, led by a 50MP primary sensor, with details about the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses yet to be disclosed. A 32MP front-facing camera is likely to be included for selfies and video communication.

Moreover, Nothing is reportedly committing substantial resources to software enhancements powered by AI. Anticipated features include built-in voice-to-text capabilities, a Smart Drawer for intelligent app management, Google’s Circle to Search, and possibly even a bespoke AI assistant, reinforcing the Phone (3) as the most cutting-edge device in the company’s lineup.

Pricing Strategy: Moving into Flagship Territory

Nothing is strategically positioning the Phone (3) as its “first true flagship,” and the pricing mirrors this ambition. Carl Pei has confirmed that the anticipated cost will be around £800 in the UK, approximately ₹92,000. However, in India, one of Nothing’s vital markets, the price may be adjusted to a more localised range between ₹60,000 and ₹70,000, adhering to historical pricing patterns. This still marks a notable increase from the Phone (2)’s entry price of ₹44,999.
