Ola Electric Roadster X Series: Launch of Innovative Electric Bikes

Ola Electric has officially unveiled the Roadster X series, presenting two new electric motorcycles—Roadster X and Roadster X+—as part of its growing electric vehicle (EV) range in India. These innovative models, developed on Ola’s adaptable motorcycle platform, incorporate brake-by-wire technology, a mid-drive motor, an integrated motor control unit (MCU), and an IDC-claimed range of up to 501 km.

Ola Roadster X Series: Prices and Variants

Ola Electric has rolled out various battery configurations across its latest lineup, giving customers multiple choices based on performance and pricing:

  • Roadster X (Entry-level model)
    Starts at ₹74,999
Available with 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh battery packs
  • Roadster X+
Starts at ₹1,04,999 for the 4.5kWh variant
Higher-end 9.1kWh variant also on offer

Both electric motorcycles are available in five colour choices—Industrial Silver, Anthracite, Stellar Blue, Pine Green, and Ceramic White. Ola Electric provides a standard warranty lasting 3 years or 50,000 km, whichever is reached first. Deliveries are anticipated to commence in mid-March 2025.

Ola Roadster X Series: Key Specifications

Performance & Powertrain

The Roadster X series incorporates a mid-drive motor and chain drive system for enhanced power delivery. Ola’s custom MCU optimises efficiency and prolongs battery lifespan. The brake-by-wire system smartly alternates between mechanical and regenerative braking based on real-time feedback.

The Roadster X:

  • Range: 252 km (with 4.5kWh battery)
  • Mid-drive motor output: 7kW
  • Maximum speed: 118 kmph
  • Acceleration: 0-40 kmph in 3.4 seconds (2.5kWh variant), 3.1 seconds (3.5kWh & 4.5kWh variants)

The Roadster X+:

  • Range: 252 km (4.5kWh battery), 501 km (9.1kWh battery)
  • Mid-drive motor output: 11kW
  • Maximum speed: 125 kmph
  • Acceleration: 0-40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds
  • Powered by Ola’s 4680 Bharat Cell, which provides 5 times more energy, 1.5 times faster charging, and a 10% longer range compared to traditional 2170 lithium-ion cells.

Tech and Features

Both models in the Roadster X series feature Ola’s MoveOS 5 operating system, which includes:

  • Smartwatch App integration
  • Smart Park Mode
  • Road Trip Mode with Ola Maps
  • Live location sharing and emergency SOS capability

The Roadster X includes:

  • 4.3-inch TFT LCD display
  • LED headlamps
  • Front disc brakes
  • Turn-by-turn navigation

Meanwhile, the Roadster X+ features additional offerings such as:

  • Cruise control and reverse mode
  • Energy insights and advanced regenerative braking
  • Geo-fencing, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and tamper and fall-detection alerts

Ola Electric also highlighted the Roadster Pro at the event on August 15, but this model has not been released alongside the Roadster X series. The company is anticipated to introduce more premium options and extended-range variants in the near future.
