Paytm Launches Solar-Powered Soundbox for Merchants

Paytm is setting a new standard in payment solutions with the introduction of India’s first solar-powered Soundbox, crafted to ensure a seamless payment experience for merchants by utilizing renewable energy. This innovative device is designed to operate efficiently with minimal sunlight, providing power throughout the day and aimed at lowering energy costs, particularly benefitting small businesses in rural and remote regions.

Features of the Paytm Solar Soundbox

The Paytm Solar Soundbox is equipped with a solar panel affixed on the top, enabling it to charge automatically when exposed to sunlight. It comprises two batteries: one that charges through solar power and the other via conventional electricity. The battery powered by solar energy can sustain operations for a full day following just 2-3 hours of sun exposure, while the electric battery can function for up to 10 days without needing a recharge. This device allows transactions using the Paytm QR code, facilitating payments through UPI and Rupay Credit Cards.

Target Audience and Accessibility

Targeted at small merchants like hawkers, street vendors, and artisans, the Solar Soundbox features a 4G connection along with a 3-watt speaker, ensuring clear and audible payment confirmations. It also supports notifications in 11 different languages, making it user-friendly for a wide array of customers across India.
