Reddit’s commitment to enhancing its machine learning features is evident with the launch of AI-driven translation for Hindi, a significant move aimed at making the English-focused platform more user-friendly for its Indian audience. This innovative feature grants Redditors the ability to translate their feeds, posts, comments, and entire conversations into Hindi instantly with just one tap, thereby opening up Reddit’s extensive collection of user-generated content to millions of native Hindi speakers.
This enhancement is part of Reddit’s ongoing development of its machine learning translation system, which first debuted in 2023, beginning with French before expanding to 35 countries and accommodating several international languages. With a keen focus on India, Reddit has announced plans to include Bengali among the supported languages in the near future.
For users looking to utilise this feature, they simply need to click on the “Translate” icon located in the top right corner of the Reddit app, available on iOS, Android, and desktop. The tool translates the entire Reddit feed into the chosen language and displays a banner to indicate that content has been translated. Users also have the option to revert to the original language if desired, enhancing both accessibility and understanding.
Furthermore, Reddit’s translation system operates in reverse; users can write posts or comments in their native language, which will be automatically translated into the default language of the subreddit they are participating in. This functionality promotes smooth multilingual interactions within communities, eliminating the need for users to perform manual translations for each reply.
Alongside this feature, Reddit is also enhancing its search capabilities, aiming to provide more relevant outcomes in local languages. However, it is worth noting that Reddit’s AI chatbot, Reddit Answers, is still limited to English for now.

Unlike conventional search engines, Reddit Answers relies solely on Reddit’s own content, scrutinising posts, comments, and community discussions. It supplies direct links to the original threads, allowing users to verify answers or delve deeper into topics of interest.
