Reddit Users Face Major Disruptions
Reddit users globally are encountering significant disruptions, with many finding themselves unable to comment, update their profile pictures, or load their feeds. This widespread issue is affecting users in major Indian cities like Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad, as well as in prominent U.S. cities such as Dallas, Denver, and Los Angeles.
Despite the increasing reports of outages, Reddit has not released an official statement. The platform’s status page continues to indicate that all systems are “operational,” which has left many users feeling frustrated due to the absence of acknowledgement or updates regarding when these issues will be fixed. Numerous affected users have turned to alternative platforms like Downdetector and social media to express their experiences and share their dissatisfaction.
Although there has been no communication from Reddit’s technical team, users who are facing similar difficulties are advised to report these problems, as this could help hasten a resolution.
Reinstatement of Reddit’s r/WhitePeopleTwitter Community
In a related update, Reddit has reinstated its r/WhitePeopleTwitter community, which was previously banned. This subreddit was shut down after certain members reportedly made threats against staff within Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The ban was reportedly enforced after Musk published a screenshot illustrating subreddit members discussing the identities of DOGE staff, along with some users making menacing remarks. Following this incident, Musk asserted that various members had “broken the law.”
After a two-week suspension, Reddit returned the community earlier this week, although the comment section remains locked. The moderators have introduced stricter rules that bar harassment, bullying, and violence. Users are now encouraged to “attack ideas, not people.”
Reddit has reiterated its dedication to maintaining a safe and civil environment for discussions on its platform and has confirmed that it typically issues warnings before banning communities. The company aims to uphold an open forum while enforcing policies against threats and harassment.
