Tata Harrier EV Launch in India

Tata Motors has officially introduced the Tata Harrier EV in India, with an initial price of ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This move represents a significant advancement in Tata’s goal of enhancing its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, targeting a 50% market share in EVs through its subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM).

Platform, Battery, and Performance of the Tata Harrier EV

The Harrier EV is built on the Gen 2 acti.ev+ architecture and is available with two battery options of 65 kWh and 75 kWh. It boasts an IDC range of up to 627 km, while real-world conditions may yield figures between 480 and 505 km. The all-wheel drive (AWD) system, powered by dual motors, produces 390 bhp and 504 Nm of torque, allowing this SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.3 seconds.

Additionally, the Harrier EV supports 120 kW DC fast charging, enabling it to charge from 0 to 80% in just 25 minutes. Regenerative braking, multiple drive modes (Eco, City, Sport), and a Boost Mode for immediate torque delivery further enhance its performance.

Design and EV-Specific Enhancements

Visually, the Harrier EV maintains the striking SUV aesthetics of its internal combustion engine (ICE) version but introduces notable EV-centric alterations, including a closed grille, redesigned bumpers, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and new lighting elements. The Stealth Edition, featuring a matte black exterior, elevates its attraction.

Smart Technology Features of the Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for a fully connected experience:

  • 12.3-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 10.25-inch Digital Driver Display showcasing EV-specific metrics
  • JBL Premium Sound System, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof
  • Touch-based HVAC controls and a wireless charging pad

For connectivity, it features iRA Connected Car Technology, which allows remote control of climate settings, charging management, and location tracking via a mobile application. OTA (Over-the-Air) updates enable software and feature enhancements.

ADAS and Safety Features

The Harrier EV includes a comprehensive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, which comprises:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane-Keeping Assist
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • 360-Degree Camera
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Hill Hold Assist

Next-Gen EV Functionality

The Harrier EV introduces groundbreaking features such as:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, powering external devices directly from the vehicle
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging
  • Summon Mode, allowing the vehicle to move forward or backward using a key fob for tight parking situations

Off-Road Capability of the Tata Harrier EV

In a real-world demonstration, the Harrier EV successfully navigated the challenging Elephant Rock in Kerala, standing at 3,937 feet, showcasing its impressive AWD traction and overall off-road capabilities.

Availability and Market Position

Bookings for the Harrier EV will commence on 2nd July 2025. Tata Motors has retained the Harrier name to leverage existing brand loyalty and transition current Harrier owners into the EV space.

This launch significantly reinforces Tata Motors’ standing in the Indian EV market, providing a robust and feature-rich option within the expanding mid-size electric SUV segment.
