Infinix Note 50x 5G+: A Budget Marvel Redefining Value

Infinix Note 50x 5G+ stands out in the budget segment, with modern features and impressive performance that defy its affordable price tag below ₹12,000. This smartphone boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chip, a robust 5,500mAh battery, an array of AI tools, and commendable camera options.

Despite the impressive specifications, the essential question remains: does this smartphone perform adequately in real-world conditions? After extensive testing involving gaming, streaming, and photography, the following insights emerge.

Design & Display: A Touch of Premium Aesthetics

The Infinix Note 50x 5G+ does not immediately convey its budget status. Its matte rear panel and expertly arranged camera layout indicate careful design consideration. Although the camera protrudes slightly, it maintains stability with minimal wobbling. The device balances aesthetics and utility, weighing just under 200g and proudly featuring an IP64 rating, which is impressive for a phone in this price bracket.

However, the 6.67-inch HD+ IPS display reveals some compromises. The resolution is capped at 720p, which seems inadequate in a landscape where smartphones under ₹10,000 offer Full HD displays. The 120Hz refresh rate provides smoother scrolling and gaming experiences; however, the peak brightness of 672 nits makes outdoor visibility adequate but not optimal.

For watching media, the display performs adequately. Netflix and YouTube operate seamlessly, but text-heavy content or intricate UI elements can lack clarity. Nonetheless, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor functions quickly and reliably, complemented by a remarkably speedy face unlock feature.

Camera Performance: Exceeding Expectations

On paper, the drop from a 108MP sensor in the Note 40x to a 50MP camera in the Note 50x might appear as a downside. However, this model utilises the 50MP effectively. During daylight, it captures sharp, well-exposed images with accurate colours. Skin tones are rendered naturally, and edge detection in portrait shots is impressively precise for this price range.

The 8MP selfie camera performs adequately in good lighting, though its low-light performance shows some limitations. Images can become grainy in darker conditions, but night mode helps to enhance results. When compared to competitors like the POCO M7 Pro or Vivo T4x, the Note 50x maintains a competitive edge, sometimes excelling in edge detail and colour consistency.

Video recording is limited to 2K with only digital stabilisation available, yet it suffices for casual use.

Performance & Gaming: Surpassing Anticipations

The Dimensity 7300 Ultimate SoC truly steals the show. Coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, it provides a seamless multitasking experience and effectively handles gaming. Titles like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile operate smoothly on medium settings without any noticeable stuttering, and thermal management remains efficient, even without a dedicated cooling system.

Test results show the Note 50x outperforms the POCO M7 Pro and comes close to the more expensive Vivo T4x, a commendable achievement for this price category. Users will appreciate the absence of frame drops during multitasking, app transitions, or light photo edits, which gives a perception of a much more luxurious device.

Software & AI: Intelligent and Polished

Operating on XOS 15 based on Android 15, the user interface exhibits maturity. It appears cleaner, smoother, and less cluttered with bloatware compared to earlier versions. While having 48 pre-installed apps may seem excessive, numerous options can be uninstalled, and overall system performance feels swift.

Infinix includes valuable utilities in its AI suite. Features like Circle to Search operate effectively, and image cutouts in the gallery look refined. The AI live-call translation is not flawless but shows potential. Additional functions such as the built-in translator, AI note capabilities, and Smart Translation gestures add practicality, though some features can be buggy.

Importantly, Infinix has committed to providing two major OS upgrades and three years of security patches, which is promising for software longevity in the budget category.

Battery Life & Charging: Exceptional Longevity with Rapid Charges

The 5,500mAh battery ensures users can comfortably last throughout the day and then some. With light usage, it delivers nearly 1.5 days of power. Even during peak usage (like gaming, videos, and calls), the battery continues to perform well into the night.

Quick charging is another positive aspect, with 45W fast charging capable of taking the battery from 20% to full within just over 40 minutes. Gamers will appreciate the bypass charging feature, which mitigates overheating during intense sessions. Reverse charging at 10W is also a beneficial option.

Final Thoughts: Great Quality with Minor Issues

The Infinix Note 50x 5G+ certainly exceeds its expectations, offering strong performance, dependable cameras, and an impressive battery, all at an accessible price. While not flawless—particularly considering the HD+ display in a market competitive with Full HD+ models—and the absence of a headphone jack may deter some.

Nonetheless, for those in search of a reliable daily smartphone that performs efficiently, remains cool under pressure, and maintains battery life into the evening, the Note 50x is a compelling option worth considering.
