Xiaomi 15 Series Launch in India
Xiaomi 15 series will make its debut in India on March 2. Anticipation surrounds this launch, which is expected to introduce two models: the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. While Xiaomi has not revealed extensive details, leaks indicate that the Indian versions will likely mirror features found in last year’s Chinese launch.
Specifications of Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumoured to be available in three colour options: Black, White, and a distinctive Black-and-White variant reminiscent of a panda. The Xiaomi 15 model is likely to showcase a 6.36-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K, accompanied by an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and thin bezels measuring just 1.38mm. In contrast, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is predicted to feature a more substantial 6.73-inch 2K micro-curved display.
Performance and Battery
Both models are set to come with a standard configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, with potential options for upgrading to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Xiaomi 15 is expected to house a 5,500mAh battery, supporting both 90W wired and 50W wireless rapid charging. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is anticipated to feature a more powerful 6,100mAh battery with similar charging specifications.
Camera Features
The camera systems on both models are projected to include a Leica-powered 50MP triple-camera setup. However, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is likely to incorporate a periscope-style telephoto lens boasting 5x optical zoom, whereas the Xiaomi 15 will offer 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera on both devices is expected to be a robust 32MP.
Pricing Expectations
In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra was launched in China at CNY 6,499, equivalent to approximately ₹78,000 or $892. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 15 carried a launch price of CNY 4,499, which translates to around ₹53,000. It remains to be seen how Xiaomi will position these devices in the Indian market, especially considering that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra made its debut at ₹99,999 for the variant featuring 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Competition in the Smartphone Market
With its compelling features, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is poised to rival flagship models such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Anticipation builds as the launch event on March 2 approaches, promising to unveil more details about these highly awaited smartphones.
