Quick Commerce and Skoda Cars: Zepto Revolutionizes Car Buying
The quick commerce phenomenon is making waves in the automotive industry. Recently, a teaser shared online by quick commerce platform Zepto revealed that potential buyers can now explore Skoda cars through its app, with Zepto handling the delivery process.
This teaser video was released in partnership with Skoda India, showcasing a Zepto delivery representative entering a Skoda dealership and stating they are present to collect an order. The visual narrative continues with a showroom staff member guiding the delivery representative to what is believed to be a Skoda Kylaq, the latest sub-compact SUV from Skoda. The video concludes with the phrase “Skoda x Zepto: Coming soon” along with a comment indicating “Coming soon on 8th Feb!”
Clarification from Zepto’s CEO
Initial interpretations led many to think that Skoda cars could be directly purchased through Zepto’s platform. However, in a follow-up post on LinkedIn, Zepto’s CEO clarified that the company won’t be delivering cars. Instead, the teaser served to announce that Zepto users will have the opportunity to request test drives of the new Skoda Kylaq via the app.
Future Possibilities with Zepto
Nevertheless, Aadit Palicha left room for speculation, suggesting in his LinkedIn message that “who knows what the future holds”. This ambiguity hints at potential expansions in the offerings of Zepto.
Although quick commerce platforms like Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart are primarily associated with small cart purchases, a noticeable trend is emerging where consumers are engaging in purchasing higher-value items. The availability of premium electronics such as iPhones and PlayStations on these platforms highlights this evolving market.
