Bengaluru’s Bold Career Moves
Bengaluru’s workforce consistently showcases a willingness to embrace bold career transitions. A recent post on Reddit highlights this trend, illustrating the story of a tech professional with nearly three years of experience who sought advice online after feeling slighted by what he termed a “lowball offer,” despite receiving an impressive 87% salary increase.
A Shocking Offer and a Frustrating Process
The individual, using the username ‘No_Baby3592,’ revealed that he was currently earning 16 LPA and had been proposed a salary of 25 LPA by a new company. However, his frustration stemmed from being ignored for three months following several interview rounds, ultimately culminating in what he considered an underwhelming offer for a lesser role.
He expressed his discontent by stating that the HR representative mentioned a potential bonus, but it was not included in the offer letter. When he requested confirmation via email, he was denied, with the HR telling him it was the same for everyone in the firm and encouraging him to “have some faith.” This behavior led him to feel anger towards their actions and the perceived lowballing of the offer.
Concerns Over Job Responsibilities
Beyond the issues with salary, the developer voiced concerns regarding the nature of work he would be assigned. He shared, “I am a backend developer with experience in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, microservices. Will I get the same type of work or be relegated to outdated technology or infrastructure tasks? Please help me,” appealing for advice from fellow Reddit users.
Community Reactions on Reddit
The post quickly attracted significant attention, igniting a lively debate among users. Many were not sympathetic to his plight, arguing the offer was quite reasonable. One user commented, “At 3 years of experience, 25 + 5 is beyond great.” Another contributor remarked, “How is this lowballed? I checked the Glassdoor for this job at the mentioned company, and the offer is at the top of the range!”
Conversely, some expressed understanding of his frustrations. A comment noted, “It depends on how you approach negotiations. Since it’s a reputable company, you might have the opportunity to secure even better offers.”
The discussion evolved, with users contemplating whether internship experiences should be considered as legitimate work experience, while others critiqued the original post as being mere “clickbait.”
