Thyrocare Founder Dr A. Velumani Criticises Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia
Thyrocare founder Dr A. Velumani has publicly denounced comedian Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, for their inappropriate comedy during a recent episode of India’s Got Latent.
Dr Velumani urged viewers to boycott Ranveer Allahbadia and suggested that Samay Raina should face consequences for their actions, emphasising that such channels ought to be prohibited.
Dr Velumani’s Strong Statement
Dr Velumani expressed, “This is not comedy; it is vulgarity. It is good that it has been exposed. Comedians are crossing the limits of decency. Do not find humour in disgusting content. #RanveerAllahbadia should be boycotted, and such channels need to be banned. #samayraina must be punished. Let’s identify five comedians who maintain a standard with minimal vulgarity,” through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Controversial Comments on India’s Got Latent
During the episode, Allahbadia posed a questionable question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents engage in sexual activity every day for the rest of your life or partake in it once and end it forever?”
Several YouTubers, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, known as The Rebel Kid, were also featured in the episode.
Apoorva encountered backlash on social media for her remarks regarding women’s private parts, which many found to be more inappropriate than the comments made by Allahbadia. Rahul Easwar has lodged a complaint against the producers of India’s Got Latent.
Complaint and Reactions
The complaint alleges that Allahbadia and Makhija employed “abusive language” during the program. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken note of this incident.
The NCPCR has called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the claims and put into effect Section 13 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act. Furthermore, the child rights organisation has requested appropriate action against the applications and platforms that host such content.
Additionally, they advocate for strict measures to be enacted, including mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures for apps, to restrict minors from accessing inappropriate material.
Allahbadia’s Apology
In response to the backlash, Allahbadia has apologised for his controversial remarks, stating that he would never intend to disrespect family values. He further conveyed that he does not want to use his platform in such a manner and refrained from providing any context or justification for his earlier statements.
